Mechanical properties and fire-resistance of composites with marble particles

چکیده

The main aim of this work is to manufacture a composite material based on natural (marble) with acceptable mechanical properties and fire resistance, for being used in habitat industry as floor or wall buildings. Marble raw the waste powder quarry plate manufacturing. To achieve objective, polyester matrix composites 50 wt.% marble 3 glass fiber (short mesh) were prepared. novelty study high percentage ceramic added polymer resistance study. Samples characterized mechanically through flexural test, Charpy impact compression test wear by pin-on-disk test. Fracture surfaces analyzed scanning electron microscope (SEM), tracks studied SEM 3D optical profilometer. Besides, samples subjected using Bunsen burner at 900 °C 20 min. Sample temperature opposite-to-fire side was measured an infrared thermometer. Results show that improves effect depends its morphology (fiber mesh). Fire high, goes out when flame turned off. Furthermore, mesh maintains integrity sample.
